Today I encourage you to meditate on Jesus’ precious and unmatched love for you as you listen to “No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus” by Steffany Gretzinger.
Scripture
John 15:13-15
13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.
Devotional
What a friend we have in Jesus! Isn’t this such an encouraging passage of scripture, that we can be Jesus’ friends if we are obedient to him. It’s quite staggering that he has ransomed us from sin and death, but he’s done more than that. It would be more than enough if had only given us eternal life with him in the new creation, but he’s gone further than this. It would have been almost unbelievable that he would make us co-heirs of all things with himself, but he’s gone beyond even this! He’s actually offered to allow us to be his friends! This is mind blowing, that He, the creator of everything, the Alpha and Omega, the blazing One, God himself, Jesus Christ, would consider you and me, his friends… Oh and what a friend he is! Isn’t amazing that we have a friend like Jesus, who has given us such a wonderful hope and future, laid down his life for us and walks with us “closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24).
Today, remember and rejoice that you are not alone, far from it! No matter who else you have around you, rejoice that Jesus Christ offers to be your friend. Enjoy his friendship today, speak with him as you would a friend, and ask him for help as you would any friend that truly loves you. What a friend we have in Jesus!
Prayer
Speak to Jesus today as you would a friend, openly talking with him about everything that is on your heart and even asking him what he thinks about you and what is on his heart to tell you! Take some time to listen to Jesus today and write down what he tells you. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27)
